Dušan started playing tennis at the age of seven, by accident. Tennis was the only sport available for his sage group back then. While „Dutzi“ was growing up his idol was Pete Sampras. Best and favourite shot is his backhand; prefers hard court.

When he was young Dusan practiced at the Catalanian Federation in Barcelona (Spain).

Early life and career

For a long time, Dutzi primarily played on the Future & Challenger circuit. Before entering that stage he participated at ITF Junior Tournaments. His first tournament was 2005, at the age of 15 he took part of the ITF Junior Tournament at Skopje – Macedonia where he lost in the 2nd round 0-6 0-6 to Serbian player Ilija Vucic.

On January 1st 2008 he reached his highest junior ranking: 132 in the world.

The Future and Challenger circuit was a good help to improve the rankings towards Top 100.

ATP: During the Kremlin Cup 2011 Dusan got qualified and lost in the first round of the Main Draw. In the same year again in Russia he reached the quarterfinals of the St. Petersburg Open.

Just one year later Dusan Lajovic was member of the Serbian Davis Cup Team for the first time.

His first appearance in a main draw of a Grand Slam was at 2014 Australian Open, where he reached the 2nd round (lost to Kei Nishikori)
